2014 CELL C SA WOMEN’S OPEN
Heartiest congratulations on Ivanna Samu & Eleonora Galletti's selection to the Astor Trophy taking place in Adelaide, Australia in January 2015, and Shawnelle de Lange's selection to go to the Albatross Tournament in India in December 2014. It is a wonderful opportunity for our girls and a great recognition by WGSA, and we at Ladies Golf Gauteng are very proud to have three of our A team being selected.
Western Province A have just won the Inter Provincials at Royal Cape Golf Club in Cape Town. Western Province took on Gauteng B and our team performed really well, halving the day with Western Province, giving them only one match point for the day which was enough to secure the win having already secured four points over the past two days.
Please find attached Eleonora's interview with SA Junior Golfer
The Gauteng teams, having achieved their aim in the qualifying rounds with both of them making it into the top 4, meant that they would over the course of the next three days, come up against each other. That happened today and it must have been extremely difficult for the teams to play against their fellow team mates.
Well, unfortunately it is not great news for the Gauteng teams today after their brilliant golf yesterday. Neither of the teams were able to secure any match points today after losing to Western Province 3-6 and Gauteng North 1-8. In the A Team Natasha Carlsson and Eleonora won their matches. Natasha beat Jade Grey 5/4 and Eleonora beat Zayb Fredericks 2/1.
The teams played foursomes this morning, the format is now match play for the rest of the tournament. There are 3 points availabe in the foursomes and 6 points available in the singles each day. A team has to achieve 5 points out of the 9 available for the day to win the daily two match points avaiable. The opponents will get zero. 4 1/2 points will mean the match is halved and each team will receive one daily match point.
Both Gauteng teams have achieved the goal they set out to achieve today. They have both finished in the top four. Gauteng A on +22, Gauteng North on +27, Gauteng B on +34 and Western Province A on +37 which means that Gauteng A will take on Western Province A tomorrow and Gauteng B will take on Gauteng North A tomorrow in Division 1 of the A Inter Provincial.
The Gauteng teams are both on track to finish in the top four in qualifying rounds. The teams have just completed the stroke play foursomes this morning and the Gauteng A have finished in first place on +4, Western Province A in second on +7, Boland third on +10 and Gauteng B and Gauteng North A in tied fourth on +13. The aim this afternoon is for both teams to remain in the top four of this division. They will then qualify in division 1 of the A Inter Provincial.

What are her options now, well as she is playing betterball match play and has a partner, she may share her partners clubs, however if she had been playing individual, she would have to hire a set of clubs or withdraw from the competition.
