This is our LGG team representing us at the SA 72 Hole Championships in East London from 23 to 26 May 2015. The are managed by Rose Bishop and Sheryl Matthews while Antoinette le Roes attends meetings as our new President. We wish them all the best of luck and can't wait to see the trophy they could be bringing home!

Our AGM was held at Randpark Golf Club. This was Gill's final year as President of Ladies Golf Gauteng. It was quite an emotional farewell as it always is the outgoing President. Many of our clubs had contributed to a farewell gift for her and she was handed this by Antoinette Le Roes, the incoming President. Gill will be able to get herself something really nice with your contributions. Thank you to those clubs who did contribute.

President of Ladies Golf Gauteng announced the teams to represent Gauteng in the upcoming WGSA 72 Holes Team event to be held in East London, last night at the Gauteng Stroke Play Championships.
Team one will be Kaleigh Telfer (Captain), Ivanna Samu and Woo-Ju Son
Team two will be Natasha Carlsson (Captain), Eleonora Galletti and Shawnelle De Lange
Team Three will be Chiara Contomathios (Captain), Symone Henriques and Kajal Mistry
The Nomads Gauteng Junior Champs were played today together with The Proshop Gauteng Champs. Natasha Carlsson of Bryanston Country Club won the Championships on a great score of 148 (75,73), Woo-Ju Son of Eagle Canyon was tied runner up on 154 (80,74) with Danielle Du Toit of Pretoria CC 154 (77,77) and Kaleigh Telfer 154 (76,78). Woo-Ju and Symone both had eagle 3's on the par 5 first hole and Shawnelle De Lange had one on the par four, ninth.
The Proshop Gauteng Strokeplay Championships took place today at Randpark Bushwillow course. The A Division girls played on the lengthened course of 5930m whilst the B Division played on the standard ladies course which is 5477m. There were some great scores out there with two eagles on the 1st hole from Woo-Ju Son and Symone Henriques. Bianca Lohbauer won the championships on a wonderful score of 147 (72,75) followed by Natasha Carlsson one shot off the pace on 148 (75,73).
WINDHOEK, Namibia (30 April 2015) - South Africa celebrated their fifth consecutive victory in the All-Africa Challenge Trophy (RAACT) with an impressive final round performance at Omeya Golf Club in Windhoek, Namibia on Thursday.
For a third day running, Cara Gorlei partnered Demi Flanagan to post a final round 145 that secured the victory for South Africa on a winning total of seven-over-par 439.

Cara Gorlei and newly crowned Bank Windhoek Namibia Amateur Ladies Stroke Play champion Demi Flanagan combined for an opening 147 at theOmeya Golf Club in Windhoek.
JOHANNESBURG (21 April 2015) – Ivanna Samu confirmed her status as South Africa’s number one women’s amateur when she won the Sanlam South African Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Glendower Golf Club on Tuesday.
Samu closed with a round of one-over-par 73 to win the 54-hole tournament on four over par, three strokes clear of Western Province’s Cara Gorlei.
Gauteng's, Ivanna Samu has won the Sanlam SA Women's Amateur at Glendower this afternoon, achieving her dream of the double. She won the SA Match Play last year and now the stroke play. Ivanna carded a round of 73 this afternoon to finish on +4 for the tournament and winning the title by three shots from Cara Gorlei. Ivanna's round today consisted of an eagle on the second hole, four birdies, three double bogey's and a bogey.
JOHANNESBURG (20 April 2015) – South African number one Ivanna Samu will take a three-stroke lead into Tuesday’s final round of the Sanlam South African Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Glendower Golf Club.
Samu bounced back from her opening 77 with a second round of two-under-par 70 on Monday, lifting her into the lead on three over par and perfectly placed for the title she desperately wants on one of the most historic golf courses in South Africa.
South Africa’s top ranked Ivanna Samu, Cara Gorlei and Chiara Contomathios were honoured at the Womens Golf South Africa Annual General Meeting held during the Sanlam SA Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Glendower Golf Club on Monday.
Western Province number one Gorlei received the annual WGSA Player of the Year award.
Boland amateur Bianca Lohbauer stole the show on the tournament favourites in the first round of the prestigious Sanlam SA Amateur Stroke Play Championship on Sunday.
The 19-year-old Boland amateur produced a solid one-over-par 73 as the field struggled to come to terms with the undulating greens and the blustery conditions at Glendower Golf Club and the lead changed hands at least half-a-dozen times.
Natasha Carlsson's win today at the Tshwane Ladies Open made it the sixth title for our Gauteng amateur golfers out of the seven available with all but one of them finishing in the Top Ten. Natasha carded rounds of 79 and 74 to finish tied eighth and the best amateur of the tournament beating Carrie Park by two shots. Gauteng golfers have now taken six of the seven titles this season.
Glenvista Ladies Club Champs concluded today. The championships were played over two days and Symone shot a 74 and 75, winning by 29 shots. Our Gauteng girls are certainly doing a great job when it comes to club champs. Ivanna Samu, Woo-Ju Son, Kaleigh Telfer and now Symone all winning their respective club champs.
Woo Ju Son is currently leading the pack at the Curro South African Junior International which is currently underway at Durbanville Golf Club. She is leading on -2 after she followed yesterdays' excellent round of 73 with a blistering 69 today. Kaleigh Telfer also carded a 69 today and is currently lying third on +1.
DURBANVILLE, 10 March 2015 - Michael Sherriff took early control in the Boys Division of the Curro South African Juniors International (SAJI), while Azelia Meichtry from Switzerland led the Girls Division after first round action wrapped up in the Global Junior Golf Tour season opener at Durbanville Golf Club on Tuesday.
Symone Henriques played the most superb golf yesterday at Zwartkop when she shot a one under par 70 and then followed it with a five over par 76 today to win the best amateur prize. Chiara Contomathios carded an excellent 73 yesterday but was unfortunately disqualified today after she called a penalty on herself.
Kaleigh Telfer finished top amateur in Cape Town at the SLT Royal Cape when she carded rounds of 76 and 73. Woo-Ju Son was the best amateur at the SLT Royal Johannesburg and Kensington yesterday when she finished in third place overall with great rounds of 71 and 72. The next SLT event takes place on the 10th and 11th March at Zwartkop in Pretoria.
JOHANNESBURG (3 March 2015) - Ashleigh Simon lit up the front nine of the East Course at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club and produced a grandstand finish to seal a sensational six-stroke victory in the Sunshine Ladies Tour Open on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Glendower professional fired a seven-under-par 65 to celebrate a superb return to form on a winning total of eight-under 136.
The Border champs were played this weekend at East London Golf Club and four of our golfers went down to play. The tournament was won by local girl Zethu Myeki on 224. Woo-Ju Son was our best placed player when she finished on a great score of 229 (78,77,74) just five shots off the pace. Kaleigh Telfer was fourth on 231 (82,74,75), Shawnelle De Lange finished in tenth place on 241 (86,78,77) and Kaiyuree Moodley was in twelth place on 244 (87,83,74)
Samu breaks Ruimsig Country Club record and wins the Ladies Club Championships by 25 shots. Ivanna was only 12 years old in 2011 when she won her first Ladies Club Championships in a play off. Today at age 16 she did not just defend her title successfully for the fifth consecutive time but bettered the previous Ruimsig Ladies Course record of 2004 of 144 by five shots when she shot 139. Round 1 -71(Two birdies. .One Eagle ) Round 2. -68 (six birdies )
Top ranked juniors Ivanna Samu and Eleonora Galletti represented South Africa in the prestigious Astor Trophy and the Australian Women’s Amateur in January.
It was the first time reigning Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur champion Samu and Galletti, a bronze medalist at the 2014 Africa Youth Games, represented South Africa on the international stage.
The Gauteng North Junior Championships took place on Sunday at Centurion Country Club a par 73 layout for the tournament. There was a sudden death playoff betweenIvanna Samu (67,73) and Michelle Swanepoel (70,70) when they both finished on 140, 6 under par for the 36 holes. Ivanna won on the second play off hole with a par whilst Michelle bogey the hole.
The Sunshine Ladies tour is up and running and our amateurs get the opportunity to take part with the professionals. Shawnelle De Lange was the best amateur at the tournament at the Lost City over the weekend and our girls are looking good again today after the first round at Glendower. Nicole Garcia, professional from Ebotse, currently leads after round one on -5. Ivanna Samu is tied second with professionals Ashleigh Simon and Rebecca Hudson on -2.
Our very special friend and colleague Alma Truss was laid to rest this afternoon. The service was a beautiful account of this magnificent woman's life. Alma was always a very private person and there was so much about her that we never knew. Both her grandsons gave beautiful and extremely emotional accounts of their beloved grand mother.
Five of our Gauteng girls are taking part in the first Sunshine Ladies Tour event at the Lost City in North West. They are doing exceptionally well with all of them managing to make the cut after round one. Frankie Bosman is the best amateur after round one on a two over par 74. Symone Henriques is second on +5 (77) and is currently tied for 12th in the field. Jacqui Akers is tied 14th on +6 (78).
