Our Gauteng A Division champs were played over two days at RJ&K with the players playing 36 holes yesterday and 18 holes today. They played the West coast on Sunday morning and the East course on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. The tournament was always going to be fiercely contested with South Africa's top golfers in contention and they certainly didn't dissappoint.
27 March 2018 – Kajal Mistry wrote the next chapter of her blossoming career when she won the Nomads SA Girls Rose Bowl Championship in wire-to-wire style on Tuesday.
In a show of sublime mental fortitude and composure, the 17-year-old Randpark junior was in a class of her own over 54 holes at Royal Cape Golf Club as she produced three well-constructed rounds to celebrate an uncontested eight-shot victory on 10-under-par 212.
News, hot off the press is that Zethu Myeki has won the KZN match play champs at Mt. Edgecombe this afternoon. Woo-Ju beat Larissa Du Preez 5/4 this morning whilst Zethu had a much tougher match to beat Casandra Hall after going to at least the 21st hole (not confirmed but there is no live scoring). Zethu and Woo-Ju had a tough match and Zethu eventaully beat Woo-Ju on the 20th Hole. Well done to Zethu and Woo-Ju, extremely proud of you both.
We at LGG have every reason to be extremely proud of Woo-Ju Son, as she in now number one in the whole of South Africa on the Open Rankings, the Junior Rankings and our Gauteng rankings.
We have six of our squad players making the Top Ten in the WGSA Open rankings. They are:
1 Woo-Ju Son
2 Kajal Mistry
3 Zethu Myeki
5 Symone Henriques
9 Kaleigh Telfer
10 Kaiyuree Moodley
The Gauteng Golden Girls was played in conjunction with our Mid Amateur over the past two days.
The Silver division was won by Valda Ford on a count out from Karen Wales on 166
The Bronze Division was won by Rene Roodt of Randpark on 68 points after two rounds of very consisteng golf (35,33)
The tournament is complete and we have our proud winners of the first ever Gauteng Mid Amateur. Firstly we would like to thank our very generous sponsors, Cenotec South Africa. Unfortunately neither of the Directors, CK Son or Chris Rule, could make it to prize giving but they were thanked in their absence.
Our inaugural Mid Amateur got underway today. The ladies were very excited to be competing in our first ever Mid Amateur. It is very poignant to host this event at Ruimsig as it was the late Erica Botha who planted the seed in our heads to host a Mid Amateur. We are so pleased that we have done it now and remember her fondly.
Our inaugural Mid Amateur Championships gets under way on Tuesday at Ruimsig Country Club. This event is open to all lady golfers in South Africa aged 35 and over. Sadly we have had a very dissapointing turnout from our Gauteng clubs but welcome our ladies from Modderfontein, Parkview, Eagle Canyon, Ruimsig, Randpark and Kyalami and of course our wonderful visitiors from Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo and Gauteng North.
After many years of holding our Gauteng Golden Golfing Girls, we have decided to replace it with The Gauteng Mid Amateur Championships. We have had so many requests over the years to hold a Mid Amateur for players 35 and over. Many unions in South Africa have started hosting Mid Ams to cater for our more mature single figure and mid teen golfers. These have been very well supported over the years and we are hoping that ours will be too.
This is the final LGG event for the year and we would like to thank all the Gauteng ladies who have participated in our tournaments throughout the year for your support. We played on Randpark's Firethorn course, which was in immaculate condition as it is only a week before the Joburg Open. The rough was extremely tough but the winning scores did not reflect that. All the results are recorded in the Photo Gallery attached.
We have a very full field for the Christmas Alliance and ask that you all ensure that your partners are aware that they are playing and their tee times. This is our only four ball alliance competition and is always fun for everyone to play.
After a long hot summer the rain decides to arrive on the day of the League Semi-finals! The ladies were not happy about the cold and wet but nobody wanted to throw in the towel on the semi-finals. The winners in the Silver Division are CCJ 2 who beat The River Club and Parkview who beat Kyalami 2. In the Bronze Division CCJ 4 beat Dainfern 1 and Bryanston 1 beat Bryanston 2.
The end of the league season is here! Thanks to all the Thursday ladies for participating in league (Sunday is not completed yet) and keeping it a friendly environment to make many new friends. The final results sheets are now posted http://ladiesgolfgauteng.co.za/result/2017-league-results and the draw has been done.
Silver: Kyalami 2 vs Parkview
BENONI, 13 September 2017 – GolfRSA Elite Squad player Caitlyn Macnab cashed in on her first provincial victory in impressive style when she banked a hat-trick of titles in the recent Ekurhuleni Open.
Since losing the Curro SA Juniors International in March in a play-off to number one ranked Woo-Ju Son, the 15-year-old junior from Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate has been in threatening form.
Royal Johannesburg and Kensington host the Ladies Golf Gauteng Vi Frost and Bronze Challenge shield today. The weather was just perfect for golf today, we had a great turnout of 54 players playing in teams of three in their club colours. RJ&K were wonderful hosts with beautiful fresh roses adorning our tables. A huge shout out to Wendy Huddy, Marian Ledingham and Jayde Rademeyer for ensuring the smooth running of our tournament. Well done to our trophy winners:-
It is with great pride that we announce our two Gauteng teams for the Inter Provincial tournament to take place at Mossel Bay Golf Club from the 25th to 29th September.
The A Team will be Chiara Contomathios (Wanderers), Eleonora Galletti (RJ&K) Symone Henriques (Glenvista), Captain Kajal Mistry (Randpark), Kaiyuree Moodley (Bryanston) and Woo-Ju Son (CCJ) with Les Rule as Manager.
She might not be a household name just yet, but Woo-Ju Son from Gauteng is certainly one of South Africa’s brightest prospects. And she will be taking a boatload of confidence to the prestigious Duke of York Young Champions in England next month after she seized her eighth victory this season in the Southern Cape Women’s Open this past Sunday.
Please inform your ladies who have qualified of their tee times and also ensure that they check on the website before they play on 24 August as changes will be made ongoing.
Also, forward any changes to me as soon as possible so that I can keep the timesheet up to date. If a player can’t make it, check with the next in line. Also please check that I have spelt names correctly.
Gauteng junior Kajal Mistry cemented her number one spot in the Womens Golf South Africa Senior Rankings with a two stroke victory in the ProShop Gauteng 36 Holes Stroke Play Championships on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old GolfRSA Elite Squad player fired rounds of 71 and 74 at Kyalami Country Club to triumph on a winning score of one-over-par 145.
Photos of the 2 days. http://ladiesgolfgauteng.co.za/photo-gallery/proshop-gauteng-36-hole-str... Another most enjoyable 36 Hole championship played yesterday and today at Kyalami. The conditions yesterday were ideal but a strong wind blew today which certainly posed a challenge for a lot of the players.
The Top five junior rankings in South Africa belong to Gauteng Juniors. Kajal Mistry, Woo-Ju Son, Chiara Contomathios and Symone Henriques make up the Top 4 with Kaiyuree Moodley taking 7th place. This is an amazing achievement from all our girls.

Cara Gorlei laid last year’s ghost to rest when she defeated fellow USA collegiate golfer Jessica Dreesbeimdieke for the Sanlam South African Women’s Amateur Championship title at Stellenbosch Golf Club on Wednesday.
Just 12 months after the 21-year-old from Milnerton squandered the lead and lost the title to Lumien Orton, Gorlei rolled in a three foot birdie putt at the last hole to beat the lanky Namibian 1-up.

ORKNEY, 5 July 2017 – Gauteng teenager Woo-Ju Son put an exclamation mark behind her rising star status when she strolled to a seven stroke victory in the Nomads SA Girls Championship in Orkney on Tuesday.
Exactly 12 months since she lifted the Under-16 title, the country’s top ranked junior came full circle at Orkney Golf Club.
South Africa’s top ranked Woo-Ju Son firmed up her bid for Nomads SA Girls Championship title when she pulled clear of the pack with an eagle-birdie finish in the second round at Orkney Golf Club on Monday.
The 16-year-old Country Club Johannesburg junior was tied for the lead at one over with Chante van Zyl from Free State and Western Province’s Kaylah Williams, but it only took her nine holes to push clear of the opposition.
Gauteng does it again! The Limpopo championships was the latest "prey" for the Gauteng Lions. It was played at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday and Gauteng players Woo-Ju Son and Chiara Contomathios clinched 1st and 2nd place respectively with scores of 72, 74, 74 and 73, 75, 74. Well done girls!
We have a rising star in our midst in Katya Henriques. Katya is only 12 years old and is a member at Glenvista Country Club. Katya plays off a 14 handicap and is their new Club Champion. She had a shaky start to the championships but steadied the ship and closed with a 96. She came out on Sunday firing on all cylinders and carded her personal best ever score of 83 to take the championships.
